Our grandkids, aged 7 and 5, are now 5 and 5. We tried to plan something for them every day. Today was a fishing holiday. Several lakes are located about half-way between the north and south. After driving through some mountain twisties, we reached Lake Bratan, a volcanic crater lake.

Next morning, we awoke to the sounds from chickens & goats, mixed with some thunder rumblings. After a delicious breakfast, our journey took us east to Singaraja. This is the second largest town on Bali. From there, we continued to the east coast. We kept the ocean to our right and followed signs that said Amlapura. Amlapura was clearly marked on my map, and I had intended to spend the second night there. So, like yesterday's signs for Singaraja, we followed any sign indicating Amlapura.

We usually stay at the beaches resorts, which are always family-friendly. Jayakarta is one of our favorites. We have stayed there two times on our trips to Bali. There is always friendly people around you, we have met some incredible people whom we call friends and keep in constant contact.
